Description:

MICONAZOLE NITRATE CREAM *FOUGERA Proven clinically effective in the treatment of athlete's foot (tinea pedis), jock itch (tinea cruris), and ringworm (tinea corporis). Miconazole combines a potent antifungal activity against common dermatophytes and yeasts with an antibacterial activity against certain Gram-positive bacilli and cocci. Miconazole inhibits the biosynthesis of ergosterol in fungi and changes the composition of other lipid components in the membrane, resulting in fungal cell necrosis. Systemic absorption after intravaginal administration is limited. Eight hours after application 90% of miconazole nitrate is still present in the vagina. Unchanged miconazole could not be traced in blood plasma or urine. Local treatment of vulvovaginal candidiasis and superinfections due to Gram-positive bacteria. MICONAZOLE Nitrate Cream may also be used for treatment of mycotic balanitis.

Directions:

Wash the affected area and dry thoroughly. Apply a thin layer of the product over affected area twice daily (morning and night) or as directed by a doctor. Supervise children in the use of this product. For athlete's foot: Pay special attention to spaces between the toes; wear well-fitting, ventilated shoes; and change shoes and socks at least once daily. For athlete's foot and ringworm, use daily for 4 weeks; for jock itch, use daily for 2 weeks. If condition persists longer, consult a doctor. This product is not effective on the scalp or nails. To puncture the seal, reverse the cap and place the puncture-top onto the tube. Push down firmly until sea is open. To close, screw the cap back onto the tube.

Warnings:

Do not use on children under 2 years of age unless directed by a doctor. For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes. For treatment of athlete's foot and ringworm - if irritation occurs or if there is no improvement within 4 weeks, discontinue use and consult a doctor. For the treatment of jock itch - if irritation occurs or if there is no improvement within 2 weeks, discontinue use and consult a doctor. Keep this and all drugs out of the reach of children. In case of accidental ingestion seek professional assistance or contact a Poison Control Center immediately.
